Old Lost ramblings...

Before I start with anything new. I figured I should post my old stuff from my facebook notes section...

Here's a list of every question LOST had going into season 6.

"Lost's Lingering Questions"

Things I don’t need answers to. I have enough evidence for my own interpretation.

The numbers – I know why they were important to dharma. They were an equation that pretty much predicted the end of the world and Dharma was trying to stop it. Never was fully explained on the show. It was explained in the first online game between season 2 and 3 and the creators confirmed it to be accurate. As for Hurley and the numbers I’m OK to assume it was fate weaving them into his life/destiny.

Libby – just another fate/character connection with Hurley. Husband died, she went crazy, was in same hospital with Hurley. Got sane again sold husband boat to Desmond, which led him to the island. The end.

I’m going to go on a creative limb and guess, because that’s what makes the show amazing and fun… Hurley accidentally killed her husband Dave when he put too much weight on the deck. Dave dies and haunts Hurley; Libby goes insane ends up in hospital. I base this off knowing Libby's husband had a boat and Hurley was originally in the mental hospital for adding to much weight to a dock and becoming traumatized.

Claire’s psychic - Was he a fraud like he told Eko? I think yes. But he was given a vision similar to what some of the survivors have gotten, that he needed to tell Claire she must raise the baby herself. So he manipulates her to get on flight 815 so this happens. Guessing Jacob had something to do with this since Man in Black doesn’t seem to want Aaron around. Or someone like Widmore paid off the psychic to tell her to get on the plane. Knowing that in the future she is a passenger on 815.

Danielle – Lots of her story doesn’t add up. I’m OK with saying she went insane and that’s the reason for the inconsistencies in her story. We’ve been reminded while viewing the show that she was insane. We have seen that the others never used black smoke to steal Alex. Danielle made this up to make the survivors worried. She is the only one who used black smoke to try and exchange Aaron for Danielle.

Cindy and the kids from flight 815 - They were on the list! Don't know why this is a big deal. They were chosen by Jacob to be others.

Brother Campbell: I would like to know how Eloise and him know each other. But I feel with what we know of Eloise this isn't important. Seems to me like he is an off island other working/believing in certain things needing to play out like Eloise and simply working with her. We know with Jill the butcher etc that there are Others working off the island. This could be an example of that.

Questions I’d like answers to or at least more information to make my own decisions. Not all are obviously important for my enjoyment of the show. Some I have my own theories on. But figured I should list everything I'm wondering about anyways...

Randoms

What is the bright light that Locke saw early in season 1? The monster or man in black? Jacob?

What did Ben have in the vent area of the hotel room with Jack?

Where did Richard take Ben as a child? Why would this place make him one of them forever and make him forget things?

Who are Adam and Eve and what is the significance of the bag of rocks? I believe Rose and Bernard. I have a feeling Vincent places the rocks next to them.

How did the US army find the island? Why are they not still looking for it? We know the army was placing bombs on islands in the pacific for testing. Jacob allowed them to find the island because he wanted jughead placed on the island. Because of it's impact on future events.


The bird that calls out Hurley’s name in the season 1 and season 2 finale. Would love more info. I have a feeling it has some sort of Egyptian background.

Time flashes: Why did the survivors and juliet and freighter folk travel but not the others? I believe the others are somehow protected from being displaced in time. This is due to being chosen by Jacob. I have a feeling Juliet is affected by the time flashes because the others branded her after she killed Pickett.

Who was Henry Gale? Considering he was in a hot air balloon created by Widmore industries I'm sure he is an agent of Widmore.

How did Desmond get to the island on the boat? Did Widmore some how cause it to happen or was it all just fate? I’m going with fate. This really isn’t a big one, and probably shouldn’t be listed. Plus knowing Naomi was sent to the island through Widmore with a picture of Desmond makes me think Charles knew he was there. Perhaps Charles was told through the mib to sponsor the race knowing this would happen. The race could also just be one of Charles's many different ways of finding the island.

Since Widmore acknowledged to John Locke that the real philosopher Locke existed. Are we to believe that other characters named after real life people also exist? Not important, just curious.

What’s up with the glass eye in the arrow? Probably will never get. Perhaps has to do with Mikahli?

What happened to Desmond’s vision of Claire getting on a helicopter with Aaron? I think we'll get to this before the series ends.

What was the ultimate purpose of room 23? Don't think we'll get this and probably shouldn't be on the list. Seemed like it was some sort of punishment/brainwashing device that Ben used. the end. He used on Karl to keep him in check. I think he used it on Walt to keep him in line when he started showing off strong powers. (we know Walt was in the room due to the minisode and Bea Klugh mentions the room to Walt in season 2)

Claire/Aaron/Christian questions

Is she dead from the dharma house blowing up? Is she the monster or The man in black in disguise?

Why was it important that she raised Aaron on her own? I just think Aaron was never suppose to be on the island. Or the psychic being a fraud was making a lame prediction.

Why does the man in black as Christian not want Aaron around?

Is the suit wearing Christian the man in black or something else? Jacob? We've seen Christian in both his suit and in casual clothing. I believe both are the man in black/monster. When Hurley finds the cabin Christian in a suit is in the rocking chair. We see a close up of an eye I believe this is the man in black transfering himself into Christian.

Widmore questions

Would love to know how he even came to be on the island?

Why can’t Widmore return to the island? Ben seemed to be banished via turning the wheel and was able to come back. Unless Charles just likes to follow the rules.

Why does Widmore believe Locke needs to be back on the island in order for the right side to win? How does he know about the upcoming war? I’m guessing he has been working with the man in black. He knows Locke is the key to the loophole.

Why did he seem to think John did not have to die to accomplish his task of bringing back those that left? I’m guessing he knew John would commit suicide knowing he would fail. Unless a big twist is coming up that Widmore is actually "good."

Eloise questions

Would love to know how she came to be on the island.

Why exactly is she convinced that whatever happened happened? That people must follow a certain road? Probably shouldn't have this listed. She has her sons journal of future events. She told Desmond the universe course corrects. So I guess she is convinced that certain things must happen.

Why does her son with Charles have a different last name? Faraday?!? Probably to protect Daniel I'm guessing.

Walt questions

What did the others want with him exactly? In the minisode we know Jacob was interested in him per Ben.

What exactly are his abilities? Why is he special? Is he aware about the times when he has randomly shown up to survivors?

Dharma questions

Why has Dharma totally stopped existing? Is there no one left off island? Seems those are alive are remaining quiet about the island.

How was Dharma able to secretly go back and forth from the island unnoticed by people/government? Simply $ and power and secrecy can get things like this done. See area 51.

Who was the bright young fellow that Eloise refers to at the looking glass? This person figured out how to locate the island. Sounds like it should be Faraday, but Dharma was already on the island when he time traveled. I believe it was Enzo Valenzetti. Since Eloise mentions they found the island due to his equations. We know Enzo came up with the equation that led to the numbers.

Why did the others purge Dharma in 1992? What was the last straw? This I'm real curious about. The incident occurs in 1977, I would think that would have been the last straw. They built a hatch on your property and it went crazy! Why do you allow them to hang out for another 15 years? There were several violations of the truce... digging, staying on the island for longer then agreed apon. I believe Jacob would not allow the purge to happen until a certain time. Or the man in black ordered Widmore to execute the purge at a specific time.

If the man in black can manipulate dead bodies not burned or buried, then why is there an entire pit of dharma folk? We've seen the others burn their own at sea. We saw last year Richard demand Amy's husband's corpse. I think it's safe to assume he would burn or bury it. I’m guessing Widmore ordered them not to be buried because he has been in a deal with the man in black for a long time. Man in black wanted to be able to manipulate these bodies. Such as he did with Horace Goodspeeds in John Locke's dream to find Horace to find the cabin.

Why does Pierre Chang use different names in the dharma orientation videos? I'm sure we won't get this. I'm sure it's just part of Dharma being private.

Why was Kelvin recruited? Seemed like a late recruit. This I would really like. I think he was recruited very close to when the purge took place. Since he was in the gulf war prior.

I’m going to assume Ethan and Ben were still with Dharma and sneaking out at night to work with the others. Why exactly did Ethan join the others? Would love a little more on his youth and Amy. Theory: Amy was an undercover other! When Sayer and company discover her and her husband in a scuffle by the others land, I believe they were not going to kill amy because she was one of them. I believe Amy was allowing Ethan to sneak out at night with Ben to be with the others. I believe Amy is Ameilia who was the older other who came over to Juliet's for the book club. Is it a coincidence that Ethan was there to fix Juliet's car when Ameilia was over?

How did a food drop occur in 2004? I'm guessing the food drop came in on the wrong bearing and somehow ended up in the wrong time. I believe the island is the center of everything... time/space.

What is the vaccine that Desmond takes in the hatch and that Claire was given by Ethan?

BlackRock/Magnus Hanso – 1st mate's journal being owned by Tovard Hanso - Dharma/Alvar Hanso. Would love a little bit of history.

Statue question

What caused the destruction of the statue? Did it being destroyed have anything to do with the pregnancy issues? If not what caused the pregnancy issues? The bomb?

Richard Alpert questions

Why does Richard Alpert not acknowledge Kate and Sayid when he sees them in the season 4/2004 finale when they help him free Ben? When we know he has met them in the 70’s? Considering that he said he watched them all die. I believe Richard has been told not to acknoledge people. To allow events to play out and to simply be an advisor. Even if he disagrees with a leader. We know he has met Locke before but rather then tell John this in 2004. He allows events to play out and advises John on how to get his father to be killed.

Why did Jacob choose Richard to be immortal and the liaison between him and the appointed leaders?

Illana and Bram/shadow of the statue crew questions

What is their relationship to Jacob? How do they seem to know so much about the coming war?

What are the other small random group of Ajira survivors doing now on the Hydra Island? Man it must be lonely.

What exactly is Frank a candidate for?

Where exactly did the "prophecy" of what lies in the shadow of the statue come from?

The bomb questions

Did it reset everything or did whatever happened happen? Does it have something to do with the pregnancy issue? I believe Miles was correct when he said that setting off the bomb would cause the incident.

Jacob/Man in black questions

What is their back story/relationship to each other? why are they forever playing a game with people and the island?

Why did Jacob ever use the cabin? What is the purpose of the ash? How did the man in black seemed to be trapped in the cabin? I think it's safe to say the ash trapped him. But what is it exactly? What broke the ash surrounding the cabin?

What is the purpose of Jacob touching people?

Who are the people that are coming? The survivors Jacob touched? If so, what does this mean for Miles, Rose, Bernard, Juliet and Vincent? Assuming Juliet might survive.

Smoke Monster questions

What is it? Why is it judging people, or bringing them down to where it is located to make them sick?

Why is it no match for the Dharma sonar fences?

The Temple questions

What’s it a sanctuary for exactly? What group of others are there?

Why does the temple have a dharma logo on Ben’s map? I think it's safe to say that Dharma knew where the temple was and just marked it's location on a map.

Island back story questions

*More info on the general history on the island – construction of the wheel and the Egyptians. Their relation to man in black and Jacob. The black rock folk and their back-story on the island.

I believe Sawyer caused the wheel to be discovered when he was holding onto the rope trying to bring Locke up. The rope flashed with him to an earlier time and remained. But I still would love to know who exactly constructed the wheel prior.

Time Travel/Flashes questions

Why did the Oceanic 6 members on Ajira flash but no one else? Why did Sun not? I believe this was answered by Eloise. She said if not everyone made the 316 flight that left. The results could be unpredictable. Thus why some were sent to Dharma times while others remained in the normal 2007 time. It may be unpredictable to us. But to Jacob/Mib it's all part of the plan/destiny.

The whispers

Who/what is saying them? What is their purpose? We know they appear when the dead show up. Who I believe is the mib/smoke monster. We know they appear when the others appear.
